Recently I visited Tubino in Amsterdam. Selma the owner of Tubino, is definitely the person to go to when you are looking for a tailor made pencil skirt or dress and want to look elegant and business chic. It’s not only just tailor made clothing, but because of her expertise she can also advise you perfectly about the right lengths, colors and fabrics and make you look at your best during a business appointment, a party or casual during the day.
With this outfit post I want to let you know how you can be business chic without always wearing the safe color black. Not that there is something wrong with black, but you can definitely spice up your business wardrobe with some color and still look business chic.
While spending my time at Tubino, I chose the color navy blue to style two outfits in a different way, a more safe look and a more daring look. Let’s start with the pencil skirt that is completely covered in navy blue. The skirt fits perfectly around my body and the shape of my body is highlighted because of this. But that’s not all of it, while combining it with black tights (because it’s getting colder and bare legs aren’t always possible anymore) and with chic black ankle boots it also boost your confidence, which come in handy when you are doing business. The back of the skirt has a golden zipper that match with the back of my ankle boots which are having golden heels. You could choose for a golden jewelry to add to your look, just like my golden Casio watch. If we take a look at the top of this outfit, I’m wearing this gorgeous black blouse from silk and a black jacket. As you can see it’s still a traditional business look, a jacket with a pencil skirt and the heels, but in a more fashionable, original and elegant way. This first look is still a safe one to wear to your work, if you are not used to colors I would advice to start with an outfit like this, a dark color that is covered over the entire garment, in this way you can get used to it and take it to the next step when you are ready!
If you are already looking for a more daring way to style this look, choose a striking print for the skirt. Like I chose the navy blue pencil skirt with the beautiful baroque print. This look is more extravagant, not only because of the print, but also because there are used two colors. More often I hear that people find it hard to combine such prints, but as you can see, if you keep the rest simple and clean you are still good to go! If you are saying this is not daring enough for me, try to combine this second look with brighter colors like red or yellow for the top or jacket and find out the result yourself. You will be amazed what effect the right colors can have. Also this pencil skirt fits perfectly around my body, has a light stretch and a slit at the back. You see? Even if I’m wearing this more striking print, I’m still good to go to my business meeting.
Business chic doesn’t always have to be black, try to experiment with colors and patterns and see what works best for you. If you want to have a professional advice about what color suits you best, make sure to schedule an appointment with Selma and she will take you into the world of feminine business clothing, and if you do, don’t forget to share your experience with me!
